,933.47 A Week On The Wrist The Panerai PAM 560 Luminor 8 Days Acciaio. This is the most stripped-down watch in Panerai’s current collection and it also represents the entry level price into the world of Panerai in-house movements, in this case the P.5000. The 564 is a current model, similar to the 177 but without the sandwich dial (at least in the most recent incarnation) and with the new 8-day movement and more writing on the dial. Any thoughts on the pros/cons of each and which you'd prefer is appreciated. Aside from the convenience of the 8 day movement, aesthetically I prefer everything about the 111. Not to say the 510 isn’t a very nice watch, in fact most people would struggle to tell them apart, but there’s just something a little more charming about those older models. I had a 564 and then got a 112. I sold the 564 a few months later.
Luminor Marina 8 Days Titanio – PAM 564. The PAM 560 is really the PAM 112, but with the new aforementioned P.5000 movement. The PAM 561, on the other hand, is a white dial version of the PAM 560. Other popular Luminor models that were refreshed with this new movement includes the titanium-cased PAM 176 and PAM 177.
I’m sure either 177 or 564 will be great for you. FYI Panerai changed from sandwich dial to sausage dial at some point for the p5000 watches. My 564 Q has sandwich, but I believe 564 R or later have sausage dials. This is true for 510, 562, 564, and possibly other p5000 Bettarini Luminors.
Panerai, initially a maker of marine instruments and gauges, started producing watches for the Italian Navy in 1938 and then began selling a limited number of watches to the public in 1993. When Sly Stallone flaunted his Panerai in the movie "Daylight", the craze for Panerai and the trend for over-sized watches began... They are effectively the same watch, only the 510 has a stainless steel case and the 564 is titanium. Next came the problem of Panerai's cost cutting. At some point in the production of both models Panerai switched from sandwich dials to printed dials sighs. From then on I've dreamed of owning a Panerai and have had my eye on the 510 for a while. It checked every box I had.44mm Luminor, black face with pale green (vs. pre-yellow) numerals/markers, recessed and filled dial, and no more or fewer complications than the small seconds replacing the 9. This large pocket watch sized movement has 127 components, with — as mentioned — two barrels to store the lengthy power reserve, and it ticks at a frequency of 21,600 vph. The Panerai 510 comes on a thick leather strap with a large, beautiful, polished buckle, also known as the “Pre-Vendome” buckle.
The watch sports the classic Panerai military look that we all know and love, the large luminous numerals and a sub seconds indicator at 9 o’clock making the PAM 510 appealing to pretty much any watch enthusiast.
